They enjoyed camping, traveling, sporting events, golfing, fishing, and cooking together. Jacob was especially proud of his homemade cheesecake and smoked barbecue ribs. One of his favorite places was simply his backyard, where he could enjoy the beautiful DeForest sunsets with his family.
27 Years of Military Service
Jacob served with great pride in the Minnesota Army National Guard for 27 years, beginning as an enlisted soldier in 1999 and ultimately rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He deployed to Iraq from 2004 to 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and later served in Kuwait from 2011 to 2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Jacob eventually served as Battalion Commander of the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery Regiment. His military career included numerous honors, among them the Combat Action Badge and induction into the Honorable Order of St. Barbara, one of the highest honors within the Field Artillery community.
His service was an important part of his identity, and he carried the values of leadership, responsibility, and dedication into every part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his aunts and uncles Pamela and Larry Johnson, Jane St. Marie, Linda DeHart, and Timothy Bergeron, as well as his grandparents Coral and Gayle White, Jerome Miller, Myron Bergeron, Mary Bergeron, Audrey Bergeron, and Bernadine Bergeron.
Jacob Bergeron's life was defined by service, adventure, family, friendship, and an enduring curiosity about the world. He leaves behind a wife and son who were the center of his life, along with a large family and community of friends and colleagues who will carry his stories and memory forward.
